I live in San Francisco, where I work in libraries & scholarly publishing, write about contemporary art, and occasionally teach in the MFA program at CCA.
Libraries & scholarly publishing: I currently work at Google Scholar on outreach and partnerships. If you want to connect about Scholar indexing, you can find me on LinkedIn.
Art writing: I write regularly about contemporary art for Art-Agenda and Artforum. My writing has also appeared in Frieze, BOMB, The Believer, Art Papers, Art21, The Brooklyn Rail, MOMUS, Vice Motherboard, Performa Magazine, Raw Vision, SFAQ, and SFMOMA's Open Space platform, among other places.
Volunteering: I am a regular volunteer in the Access Department at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. I am also a passionate Wikipedian and frequently collaborate to produce edit-a-thons focused on creating visibility for underrepresented people, places, and history. I’ll be very happy to help with your Bay Area edit-a-thon event if my schedule allows!
Teaching: I occasionally teach in the Graduate Program in Fine Arts at California College of the Arts, where I lead the MFA written thesis seminar.
Contact: monica.e.westin(at)gmail.com for writing, editathons, and related projects. Do not contact me at this address for anything related to Google Scholar, please (use LinkedIn instead).
